SESSION #1: Introduction to Gifted... presented by Sue Stevens

Gifted students may present a sometimes baffling profile to parents (and teachers) as they seem out of step with their chronological age peers. Often the students themselves are keenly aware of a difference. In many instances, this
difference is misdiagnosed or misunderstood.

This session will serve to clarify the characteristics of gifted students, the signs with which they present (or how they may be perceived) in the classroom and appropriate recognition tools for their identification. Parents will also
become familiar with the correct educational language to help in discussions about the appropriate educational accommodations for gifted children.
